Maui Lodging

Maui lodging ranges from very expensive resorts to economy hotels.  The island has, and promotes, a reputation of charging higher than average rates for lodging.  There are, however, many affordably priced establishments on Maui.  As with most of the neighbor islands, you will find many more condominiums here than on Oahu.

The establishments below are listed from least expensive to most expensive.  The rates listed are the standard rack rates published by the establishment.  There are many ways to get discounts from the standard rates.  One way is often to simply make your reservation through the internet.  Other tips are included on the Hawaii Lodging page.

Name Location Rates
(US $ )
Kahana Sunset Kahana $100 - $260 Beachfront one and two bedroom condominiums.  Units have ceiling fans, but no air conditioning.  We have stayed here many times and always enjoy it.  The beach is secluded and there is very good snorkeling just offshore.  The bedrooms in the two bedroom units are located on the second floor.  The two bedroom units have a lanai outside the living room and a second lanai outside the master bedroom.  4909 Lower Honoapiilani Highway, Kahana
Outrigger Napili Shores Napili $167 - $225 Oceanfront condominium complex on Napili Bay with great views of Molokai and Lanai.  Units have ceiling fans but no air conditioning.  5315 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Napili
ResortQuest Kaanapali Shores Kaanapali $220 - $1,000 An ocean front complex located just north of Kaanapali.  Air conditioned units include hotel rooms, studios, and one and two bedroom condominiums.  We stayed here a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.  3445 Honoapiilani Highway, Kaanapali
ResortQuest Mahana at Kaanapali Kaanapali $300 - $705 The advantage of the Mahana condominiums is that all units are oceanfront giving panoramic views of the Pacific.  In the winter, you can whale watch from your room or lanai.  Studio, one, and two bedroom units all have air conditioning.  110 Kaanapali Shores Place
Maui Marriott Kaanapali $439 - $589 Marriott is currently renovating the hotel and rates are very low through the end of the year (when construction is scheduled to be completed).  It is located right on Kaanapali Beach and there is shopping and many other hotels nearby.  100 Nohea Kai Drive, Kaanapali
Kaanapili Beach Club Kaanapali $290 - $560 Formerly the Embassay Vacation Resort International. Beach front all-suite resort in west Maui.  Each unit has a bedroom and a living area with a mini-kitchen.  The breakfast buffet and cocktail reception are no longer included in the room price.   104 Kaanapali Shores Place, Kaanapali
Outrigger Palms at Wailea Wailea $265 - $425 Oceanfront hotel in sunny southwest Maui.  This used to be managed by Aston and when Outrigger assumed management a $25 million renovation was done.  Although there is no swimming beach in front of the resort, it is just a short walk to Wailea Beach, which is one of our favorite beaches on Maui.  3200 Wailea Alanui, Wailea
Ritz Carlton Kapalua $599 - $899 The resort is closed until January 2008 for renovation.  This luxurious resort is located on a hill overlooking the ocean.  Fleming beach is adjacent to the resort and frequent electric shuttles take you the 200 yards to the beach if you don't feel like walking up or down the hill.  When we stayed here several years ago, it was everything you would expect in a luxury resort.   One Ritz-Carlton Drive, Kapalua
Grand Wailea Resort and Spa Wailea $645 - $825 Beach front resort in sunny, southwest Maui with 40 acres of tropical gardens and waterfalls.  We haven't stayed here, but have visited it and it appears to be what you would expect an expensive, world class resort to be.  Rated in 1999 as the best spa resort by readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
3850 Wailea Alanui Drive, Wailea
