Oahu Lodging

Oahu lodging ranges from very expensive resorts to economy hotels and lodging rates tend to be lower than on the neighbor islands.  The establishments below are listed from least expensive to most expensive.  The rates listed are the standard rates published by the establishment.  There are many ways to get discounts from the standard rates.  One way is often to simply make your reservation through the internet.  Other tips are included on the Hawaii Lodging page.

There is a charge for parking at most of the hotels and condominiums in Honolulu even if you are staying there.  If you rent a car, check the rate at the hotel because parking can cost up to $10 a day.

Description
Castle Pacific Marina Inn Airport Hotel Honolulu Airport  $109 - $135 This hotel has 119 air-conditioned guestrooms on three floors, with exterior corridors and no elevators. Rooms have one queen bed or two twin beds and cable TV.  Bathrooms have showers only.  Free parking and a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service are available for all guests.  We have stayed at this hotel several times.  It is very plain and basic, but it's the least expensive place we've found when all we need is a place to sleep overnight between plane connections.  Although we've never encountered a problem, the hotel's "restaurant" seems more like a nightclub with a lot of locals drinking and enjoying themselves.  A little higher priced, but nicer hotel close to the airport, is the Best Western The Plaza Hotel listed below.
2628 Waiwai Loop, Honolulu

Ohana Waikiki West Honolulu $129 - $229 A nice, clean budget hotel with small rooms located two blocks from Waikiki Beach.  Kitchenettes are available.  We stay here often if we are only on Oahu for a few days on our way to a neighbor island.  2330 Kuhio Avenue, Honolulu. www.ohanahotels.com
Best Western The Plaza Hotel Honolulu Airport $139 - $159 This 12 story hotel has 274 rooms. Rooms have one king bed or two double beds, refrigerators, coffeemakers, hair dryers, and cable TV with pay movies. A complimentary shuttle serves the Honolulu airport a half-mile away, and a local-area shuttle is available for an additional charge. We've stayed here a few times over night when laying over between plane connections and were very satisfied.  3253 N. Nimitz Highway,  Honolulu. www.bestwestern.com
ResortQuest Waikiki Banyan Honolulu $158 - $250 One-bedroom condominium suites located one block from Waikiki Beach.  Plenty of room for a couple but "cozy" for a family with two or more children.  201 Ohua Avenue, Honolulu

Ohana East Honolulu $159 - $279 One block from Waikiki Beach.  Kitchenettes are available. We have stayed here several times and were satisfied with the accommodations.  150 Kaiulani Avenue.

Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio Honolulu $189 - $249 This recently renovated 620 room hotel is located a long block from Waikiki Beach. Each room has its own lanai with either a city or partial ocean view. We haven't stayed here yet but we have had good experiences at other Radisson hotels and this appears to be a good value for the money.

Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Honolulu $235 - $390 Less than one block from Waikiki Beach, this hotel offers casual, relaxed surroundings in the heart of Waikiki.  Staying here gives you easy beach access at less than beachfront prices.  There are 1,150 guestrooms with ocean or city views.  We found staying at this hotel a very enjoyable experience and a good value for your money. www.starwoodhotels.com
Outrigger Waikiki Honolulu $239 - $649 Outrigger's flagship hotel is located oceanfront on Waikiki Beach.  Waikiki beach near the hotel tends to be very crowded, but if you want to be at the center of Waikiki, you can stay here.  2335 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu

Hilton Hawaiian Village Honolulu $239 - $359 The Hawaiian Village is probably our favorite place to stay in Honolulu.  For us it is a true resort, because we can stay there three or four days and never feel like straying more than a block or two away.  There are restaurants, shopping, and it is located on Waikiki's best beach.  2005 Kalia Road, Honolulu

Turtle Bay Resort Kahuku, North Shore $293 - $392 (Formerly the Turtle Bay Hilton Resort)  This is the only hotel/resort on Oahu's North Shore and recently completed a $40 million renovation.  This beach front resort is located about an hour's drive from Honolulu and every room has an ocean view.  We go there when we want to "get away from it all" on Oahu.  We love the hotel's location, and we always receive prompt and friendly service.  You will need to rent a car if you're staying here, unless you want to spend the entire time at the resort.  We recommend the resort if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki without going to a neighbor island.   57-091 Kamehameha Highway, Kahuku www.turtlebayresort.com
Sheraton Waikiki Honolulu $350 - $680 Oceanfront hotel with over two-thirds of the rooms directly facing the ocean.  There is no beach directly in front of the hotel, but it is a very short walk on either side of the hotel.  Waikiki beach near the hotel tends to be very crowded.  Outrigger canoe rides, surfing lessons, and catamaran rides are available.  The Hanohano Room on the top floor is our favorite restaurant on Oahu.  2255 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu

Resort Quest Waikiki Beach Tower Honolulu $402 - $658 Luxury condominiums across the street from Waikiki Beach, most with ocean views. 39 floors of one and two bedroom units.  We have stayed here several times and were always very pleased with the accommodations.  There are only four units per floor and, on the upper floors, the two center units offer unobstructed views of the ocean from the very large lanai, the living room, and the master bedroom.   2470 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu.

The Royal Hawaiian,  Waikiki Honolulu ---------- The world famous "Pink Palace of the Pacific" is currently closed for renovations and is scheduled to reopen January 2009.  2259 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu.
